By now, if you are a Marilyn fan -- or, you aren't -- you've heard about "My Week with Marilyn," the new film coming out November 23rd starring Michelle Williams as the late and great Marilyn Monroe.
What amazes me most is how much controversy this little film has stirred up in the entertainment world. People have gotten protective, vicious and judgemental real quick with any mention of Marilyn Monroe; or someone else portraying her. {Myself included.}
The buzz started real early on, with the casting of Michelle Williams and the age old question "Is she right to play Marilyn?" Honestly, who can decide that? Isn't an actresses' job to become someone else? It has everything to do with talent and less to do with the actual resemblance. Or did I miss something in Theatre 101?
I don't know a lot about Michelle Williams, acting wise. I liked her in "Brokeback Mountain" and obviously, knew she was the love of Heath Ledger's life before his passing.
Do I think she is a good Marilyn? Yeah, I do. But that's beside the point. There is MUCH MORE to being Marilyn than the hair, the fashion and the voice. It's about attitude and believability. Judging by some of the clips I've seen, I think she's got it in the bank.
My only gripe may be with the actual storyline of the film itself. It appears to be quite dramatic and sensationalized and frankly, the only "fictitious" film about Marilyn I enjoyed and felt did her some justice was "Norma Jean and Marilyn" from 1996 (must-see, by the way!).
I just hope this movie doesn't continue to propel the false beliefs about Marilyn and her life. But, if all else fails, it will surely be entertaining!
An honest take on motherhood, psychology, love, life and bohemianism. In support of music, film, art and the written word…and all that jazz!

~Dose of MM~
“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they go right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart, so that better things can fall together.”

Mourning of Marilyn

Rest in Peace, Marilyn.
I love you ♥

***from Wikipedia:
On August 5, 1962, LAPD police sergeant Jack Clemmons received a call at 4:25 a.m. from Dr. Ralph Greenson, her psychiatrist, proclaiming that Monroe was dead at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California. At the subsequent autopsy, eight milligram percent of Chloral Hydrate and 4.5 milligram percent of Nembutal were found in her system, and Dr. Thomas Noguchi of the Los Angeles County Coroners office recorded cause of death as "acute barbiturate poisoning," resulting from accidental overdose. Many theories, including suicide, circulated about the circumstances of her death and the timeline after the body was found. Some conspiracy theories involved John and Robert Kennedy, while other theories suggested CIA or Mafia complicity.

I Want It!
Etsy is, undoubtedly, the coolest shopping online community there is. If you have eccentric, vintage, creative tastes, then THIS is the place for YOU.
Here are a few clothing items I am literally *drooling* over right now:
I always wanted to be a "sweater girl". I just think they are so darling, but alas, I kinda look like a vampire (even on my most normal day) so I don't think I could have carried the look off, haha! But, I love love love cardigans & sweaters from the 40s & 50s!:

Oh! And the dresses!!! I could be very happy wearing these every single day.

And, of course, anything pink, girly & glam - I want that too.

This is my DREAM. I started all of my own writings on a typewriter, believe it or not. This would be heaven!

How cute are these? And, notice how similar they look to the chipmunk figurines of my Mother's from my previous post? ~Look at me, I'm Sarah Dee!~: Country Living, Boise Style">

And, are you kidding me? Marilyn? On a bracelet? YES!

Even better than the real thing?
I have been an "obsessed freak" about many things in my life, but none more than:
Marilyn Monroe....and anything Parisian.
I recently acquired an inexpensive perfume(from AVON) that is rumored to be a knock-off of the classic, and famous, Coco Chanel No. 5 (that Marilyn herself wore).
I don't know if it is or not....but, it sure smells delicious! So sophisticated. And, how can you not love the simple, classic, modern design?
Oh yeah, I am also an obsessed freak about perfume. FYI.

Dose of MM

*Sigh*
I just adore her.
I saw "The Misfits" last night for the first time. Very strange, seeing it was actually her final film before her death in 1962.
It really moved me. Not the movie. But seeing her, in her last months of life and obviously, so completely lost.
But, always beautiful and always inspiring.
Long Live Marilyn.

Marilyn Coma.
Those who know even the teeniest thing about me, know one thing: I literally hyperventilate & drool when Marilyn Monroe is mentioned. I adore her....to the point of near OBSESSION.
